BioAndy Pang holds a Masters in Theatre Directing, having trained with East 15 Acting School (UK) and GITIS (Russian University of Theatre Arts, Moscow). Since then, he has directed multiple theatrical works of different genres, which includes theatre plays, classical opera, traditional & modern puppetry and devised works. His directorial works has been performed in the languages of English, Tamil, German & French. His favourite directing credits includes Bastien und Bastienne (W. A. Mozart), Hänsel und Gretel (Engelbert Humperdinck), The Danny Crowe Show (David Farr) and his own puppetry works, The Fearful King and Doggy and MeowMeow.
Prior to director training, Andy Pang graduated from Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts with a BA in Theatre Arts (Acting Major) and was the recipient of the NAFA President Award in 2011. A bilingual actor and puppeteer, his performing credits includes Cassio in Shakespeare’s Othello, Silvio in Servant of Two Masters (performed in Mandarin), and as the puppeteer of the iconic Sun Wukong in Paper Monkey’s The Magic Lantern 宝莲灯, which won Best Production for the Young @ Life Theatre Awards 2017. Andy Pang has an affinity with puppetry and has performed in many international puppetry festivals around the world. He has an avid interest in folklore, and strives to create theatrical fables that spark metaphors with the issues of the contemporary society. Andy Pang is an adjunct lecturer with Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts. He is currently a freelance theatre director, performer, puppeteer and educator. Contact Andy |
